John Kingsley DA PAI



Born in Glasgow in 1956, John studied drawing and painting at Glasgow School of Art from 1973-77 under Dr David Donaldson, James D. Robertson and Geoffrey Squire.

Since that time he has exhibited with the RSA, RGI, RSW and PAI and served as a council member Paisley Art Institute for 15 years. In 1999 John was awarded the Diploma of the Paisley Art Institute.

He was a finalist at the Hunting Art Prizes in London on 5 occasions, his work receiving the award of being Highly Commended in 1996. Among other awards he won the Paisley art Institute Prize in 2003, the Reid Kerr College award for Painting in 2006 and the CFAG award in 2008 at the PAI.

John has exhibited widely throughout the UK, in particular in London where he is represented by Duncan R. Miller Fine Arts and with the Contemporary Fine Art Gallery, Eton, John Davies Gallery, Moreton-in-Marsh and most recently with the Fraser Gallery, St Andrews as well as at many art fairs.

His work features in the collections of HRH Duke of Edinburgh, Tommy Hilfiger, Paisley Museum and Art Gallery, Dundas & Wilson and Sara Lee UK among many others and internationally in France, Belgium, Holland, Luxemburg, Sweden, Lebanon, Malaysia, Australia, Canada, and USA.
